Berry Bros. & Rudd Launch ‘The Duel’

Britain’s oldest wine and spirits service provider, Berry Bros. & Rudd, continues to fuse storytelling with distinctive whisky craftsmanship in its newest launch, The Duel. This uncommon and poetic double launch captures the spirit of the fabled final duel of London, mentioned to have taken place in Pickering Place, the very coronary heart of the model’s historic St James’s Road premises.
As with all duel, there are two sides to the story. The Duel brings them vividly to life via two distinct single malts: Justice and Honour.
Justice, representing fact and precision, comes within the type of a 54-year-old Speyside single malt from a labeled distillery. It opens with golden honey, citrus peel, and seasoned oak earlier than revealing layers of marmalade, apricot, and vanilla pod. The palate is deliberate and harmonious, closing with a lingering contact of mild spice.

Honour, the romantic counterpoint, is expressed via a 34-year-old Laphroaig from 1991. It exudes the evocative aromas of soot, smoke, and seaside air, unfolding into meaty depth, comfortable sugar, and coal mud. It’s a whisky of heat and sentiment daring, lingering, and filled with coronary heart.
Lizzy Rudd, Chair of Berry Bros. & Rudd, mentioned: “Over my time as Chair, I’ve heard many wildly totally different variations of the story, with every one capturing the creativeness. The Duel is our means of bottling that intrigue.”
Offered in hand-blown Dartington Crystal decanters, the whiskies are set inside a bespoke jesmonite cupboard that symbolically brings the 2 spirits head to head. Every bottle design mirrors its character fluted precision for Justice and textured depth for Honour, separated solely by a brass coin that nods to the ritual of the duel itself.
